The Christmas season has come and gone and with it the rush of interruptions, shopping excursions and late night wrapping sessions that the season tends to entail. I hope that everyone had a great holiday and were able to spend it with family and friends. For those who weren't, I hope you didn't spend it hanging around like the guy on page two.
As you can see I managed to not only fix that issue with the left hand, as mentioned in my last post, but I've also managed to get our main character a little more color. As bedroom scenes go this one is pretty boring but it does set the scene for the rest of the page and break the reader out of the flashback from page one. Still working on the best way to do this digitally as with every frame I find an interesting technique I hadn't thought of before, such as overlays for the ambient light and shadows.
That said, looking at those top two frames I like how the lamp gives off a nice glow effect, but I don't think he'd have the lamp on in the first frame. Obviously we need to have some light in the room or we wouldn't be able to see anything and that kinda defeats the purpose of drawing the scene if I'm just going to make it black. Then again, maybe I should. Being my own editor probably isn't making this process any quicker but in the end I'll be happy with the results. Eventually you'll get to see how I handle that situation and I'm sure some of you will disagree with my solution. I'm good with that.
Currently working on frames 3 and 4 so I'll have a post up on those shortly, probably within a day or two. Feel free to make any comments and let me know what you think. You can comment about the progress in general, or a particular frame, or the fact that those are the ugliest sheets you've ever seen. Whatever makes you happy, as long it's attempting to be constructive. See you shortly.
